This is an absolute utter disgrace, a catholic clinic has refused to treat a 14 year old girl's ADHD; all because she is trans. They told her mother "We don't see transgendered patients in this clinic."

This is complete discrimination and I'm fed up with religious institutions expecting a special right to discriminate. A religion shouldn't be the exception to the rule.

Not only is having a mental health diagnosis in your records not neutral, but it is dangerous. Not just in the medical setting, but, yeah, including within the medical setting.

You are immediately less likely to be believed. You are immediately more likely to receive lower quality care, no matter what symptoms you're experiencing or whether or not it's considered a "physical" vs. "mental" issue. Everything will be attributed to your diagnosis, and depending on the nature of that MH diagnosis. Considering that most of these diagnosis are based in racial and gendered biases, among other things, they are "scientific" ways of declaring certain demographics less deserving of care in the medical setting.

A mental health diagnosis should not make you a second-class citizen during a medical emergency. The stigma is baked into these diagnoses, and it's killing people.

Everyone has human rights, even the people you hate (yes even the person you’re thinking about right now) Peoples rights should not be dependent on which people are deemed “good” or “pure.” It’s so easy to think if you take away some rights from groups you don’t agree with you will improve the world but you won’t. You will just become another person removing rights from people you don’t like.

Wow... So they might actually outlaw self-medding for trans women here in Denmark and make estrogen and anti-androgens a controlled substance because of a bogus study that claims that self-medicating HRT *will* cause blood clots... All based on data from less than 50 trans women who've had blood clots early in life. All while literally not taking into account any of their other risk factors (substance abuse, V-Leiden, obesity, smoking, etc) and blaming it solely on their hormone treatment... Here we go backsliding on all the strides in regulation that we've made in the last decade wooooooooooo...

like what do you mean i get to make decisions about changing my body without first having to perform every gross detail of my personal history and identity to some dickhead with a clipboard — who already decided i'm not trans enough to qualify the second i walked in, but we'll continue with this elaborate farce for several weeks anyway — until he finally stamps my records forever with a mental illness diagnosis of "sick in the head but not sick enough for medical intervention" and then sends me off on my way to be sneered at by random transphobic medical professionals for the rest of eternity every time my medical history comes up.
